About Us
The Old World
Jonathan Possidente was raised on the New England Coast, influenced by his father's Italian ancestry where wine was a cultural part of his upbringing. While in college, Jonathan made several trips to visit his paternal family in San Carlo, Italy, where he learned Old World wine traditions. He continues to visit the region. In fact, our wine tasting packages are inspired by his Italian relatives, and most are named after them.
Fashion Career
Jonathan's career began in New York's fashion industry, where he worked in a Sales and Retail Management capacity for Giorgio Armani, Loro Piana, Ralph Lauren, Burberry and John Varvatos. His knowledge of wine benefited him in his fashion career, and eventually led him to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California.
The New World
After moving to Los Angeles, Jonathan began to visit California's wine country during his free time, and personally connected with many of the winemakers which amplified his passion for wine. A lover of the Italian kitchen, he frequently hosted friends and family and his passion for wine grew. He made great partnerships with wine professionals in Los Angeles, and it inspired him to garner professional credentials from the International Sommelier Guild.
The Making of SCWT
As a means to combine his three favorite talents; wine knowledge, Mediterranean food, and hosting events, Jonathan created San Carlo Wine Tastings (SCWT). At SCWT, Jonathan set out to make wine approachable to newcomers while also making it enjoyable for wine aficionados–he creates a space where everyone can have a great time!
